Good Morning Nagpur
Concerns are mounting over the functioning of auto-rickshaw services outside Nagpur Railway Station, with passengers alleging frequent overcharging, mismanagement, and inadequate enforcement of traffic and transport regulations. Daily commuters and visitors claim they are being forced to pay arbitrary fares, while many also report incidents of rude behaviour, lack of fare transparency, and disorganized auto stands.
According to passengers, the absence of a regulated queuing system and fixed fare enforcement has created inconvenience, especially for tourists, senior citizens, women, and first-time visitors arriving at the station. Traffic congestion around the station premises has further worsened due to irregular parking and the unorganized movement of auto-rickshaws, leading to delays and safety concerns.
Citizens have urged the Railway Police, Traffic Police, and local transport authorities to strengthen monitoring in the area. Among the key demands are regular deployment of enforcement personnel, implementation of a fixed fare system, proper management of auto-rickshaw stands, installation of CCTV cameras, and strict action against drivers found violating rules or overcharging passengers.
Residents believe that timely intervention by the authorities will not only improve passenger safety and convenience but also help restore order around one of the city's busiest transport hubs. They have emphasized the need for a transparent and accountable transport system that ensures fair fares and a hassle-free travel experience for everyone using Nagpur Railway Station.
