Nagpur received 24 mm of pre-monsoon rainfall on Monday evening, bringing relief to citizens after nearly three weeks of intense heat. The rain, accompanied by thunderstorm activity, lightning and gusty winds, began around 6:15 PM and continued for almost an hour.
The sudden weather change brought down the discomfort caused by soaring temperatures, as the city had recorded around 40.6°C during the day. Weather experts stated that the rainfall occurred due to a trough formation over Vidarbha, while conditions remain favourable for the further advancement of the monsoon towards interior Maharashtra.
Citizens are advised to stay alert during lightning and strong winds and avoid standing under trees or in open areas during thunderstorms.
