The Nagpur Regional Transport Office is set to begin a strict checking drive for vehicles without High Security Registration Plates from July 1, 2026. Vehicle owners who have not yet installed HSRP are advised to complete the process soon to avoid challans and enforcement action.
HSRP is important for proper vehicle identification and helps prevent number plate tampering, duplication and vehicle-related fraud. The rule is especially applicable to vehicles registered before April 1, 2019.
During the checking drive, vehicles found without mandatory HSRP may face penalties. Repeated violations can also lead to stricter action by the authorities. Vehicle owners can book HSRP installation through the official online portal or authorised fitment centres.
The RTO has urged citizens to install HSRP on time and cooperate with the enforcement drive for safer and more transparent vehicle monitoring in Nagpur.
