Where Patriotism Found a Heartbeat: Jeevoday Celebrates India’s 80th Independence Day with Pride, Passion and Purpose

Patriotism came alive in its most beautiful and heartfelt form as Jeevoday Special School, Pratiksha Rehabilitation Centre and Jeevoday College of Special Education came together to celebrate India’s 80th Independence Day with immense enthusiasm, pride and patriotic fervour.

The celebration was not merely a programme—it was an emotional journey that brought together children, students, educators and the entire Jeevoday family in a celebration of India’s spirit of freedom, unity and sacrifice. The campus echoed with the colours of the tricolour, stirring music, energetic performances and, most importantly, the innocent yet powerful expressions of children who reminded everyone what independence truly means.

The celebration was graced by Rev. Fr. Rodger Godinho, OP, along with Sister Provincial Dr. Lily Francis, Sister Joyce , Principal of Jeevoday Special School, Sr. Blessy, Course Coordinator of Jeevoday College, Sister Josy and Fr. Sanjeev.

The morning began with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Chief Guest, followed by the National Anthem. As the Tricolour rose proudly, the gathering stood together in gratitude, remembering the sacrifices that gave us the freedom we cherish today.

The patriotic spirit continued with a powerful band performance by the youth of Jeevoday,creating an atmosphere filled with energy and pride. It was followed by the girls’ vibrant presentation of “Desh Rangila.”filling the celebration with colour, enthusiasm and national pride. The little ones from the primary section delighted everyone with a charming presentation on India’s National Symbols, celebrating the beauty and identity of our nation.

One of the most touching moments of the celebration was an emotional performance depicting the life and sacrifice of an Indian soldier. Through expressive movements and powerful storytelling, the senior boys portrayed the courage of those who dedicate their lives to protecting the nation. The primary children then filled the stage with youthful energy through their motivational dance on “Chak De India.”

In his heartfelt address, Rev. Fr. Rodger shared how deeply happy and touched he was to witness the children perform with such confidence and joy. He reminded everyone that no human being is perfect and that our differences and struggles are what make us beautifully human. Seeing the children perform so wonderfully filled his heart with happiness and admiration. He also expressed his gratitude to the teachers for their patience, dedication and loving care, adding that every family blessed with these beautiful children has truly been gifted precious angels.

The secondary students showcased discipline and teamwork through a lively ring drill and circle dance, while the Jeevoday College students added cultural richness with a vibrant patriotic Kawali performance. A meaningful patriotic musical skit , carrying a message of hope, responsibility and love for the nation.

The final performance by the children of PratikshaRehabilitation Centre was perhaps the most heartfelt. Their portrayal of the journey and sacrifice of a soldier moved the audience and beautifully expressed gratitude to the brave hearts who dedicate their lives to our country.

The programme concluded with a warm vote of thanks by MisbaMa’am, followed by the distribution of sweets to the children and faculty.

What made this celebration truly special was the innocence, courage and love reflected in every child’s performance. Each song, every movement and every smile carried a simple but powerful message—that love for one’s country belongs to every heart, and every person, regardless of ability, has a place in the story of India.

At Jeevoday, Independence Day was more than a celebration—it was a heartfelt tribute to India, to its heroes, and to the beautiful spirit of every child who celebrated it with love.
