Good Morning Nagpur
Panic spread across the Kamal Chowk area of Nagpur after a suspected firing incident was reported near Shanichara Bazar during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
According to preliminary information from police sources, Jagdish Gokhale allegedly opened fire at a man identified as Ajay Chinchkhede. No injuries or casualties have been officially confirmed in connection with the incident.
Soon after receiving information about the firing, teams from the Crime Branch and Pachpaoli Police Station reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Police officers conducted a detailed inspection and collected evidence from the scene.
During the investigation, police reportedly recovered one spent cartridge case. The recovered evidence has been seized and sent for forensic examination to determine the weapon used and establish the exact sequence of events.
Sources have claimed that the two individuals involved have criminal backgrounds and were previously linked to cases registered under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. However, police have not officially confirmed these claims.
Investigators are now examining whether the firing was connected to an old rivalry, a personal dispute or an alleged gang conflict. CCTV footage from the surrounding area and other available evidence are also expected to be examined as part of the investigation.
Further details are awaited as police continue their inquiry into the incident.
