The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has directed a detailed inspection of 464 public wells across the city amid concerns over their condition and maintenance. A team of 20 lawyers has been assigned to conduct field inspections and assess the actual ground-level situation.

The inspection will focus on the condition of the public wells, whether cleaning work has actually been completed, and the accuracy of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation's reported maintenance efforts. The team has been given four weeks to submit its report.

The exercise is expected to provide an independent assessment of the condition of these public water sources and help verify the claims made regarding their cleaning and upkeep. The report will cover different areas of Nagpur and present the findings before the concerned authorities.
