A case has been registered by Nandanvan Police in Nagpur following a complaint by a 26-year-old woman, who alleged that she was pressured by her husband and members of his family to convert to Islam after their court marriage.

According to the complaint, the couple got married under the Special Marriage Act on January 16, 2026. The woman, who is reportedly an architect, alleged that she had made it clear before the marriage that she would neither renounce Hinduism nor convert to another religion.

She further alleged that between January and September 2026, her husband and several of his relatives repeatedly pressured her to accept Islam. The complaint also includes allegations of abuse, assault, threats and mental and physical harassment at their residence in the Nandanvan area.

Based on the complaint, Nandanvan Police registered an FIR under the sections mentioned in the post, including provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable laws. Police have stated that the allegations are being investigated, and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
