The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has approved a major land-transfer proposal linked to the Nagpur Metro project, with civic properties valued at around ₹75 crore being adjusted against NMC’s financial contribution to MahaMetro. The decision includes the transfer of six NMC-owned plots on a freehold basis, formalising ownership of properties already utilised for the Metro project. According to reports, the move is part of NMC’s 5% financial contribution towards the Metro project.

The civic body has also approved proposals related to the redevelopment of key commercial markets in Nagpur. The broader redevelopment plan covers important market areas and premises, with the objective of improving commercial infrastructure and urban land utilisation. The developments are expected to strengthen the connection between Metro infrastructure and the redevelopment of established commercial areas across the city.The land-transfer decision involves properties at locations including Somalwada, Indira Gandhi Hospital in Ambazari and Tulsi Hindi Primary School in Sitabuldi, among others. The move is being viewed as an important step in resolving land-ownership matters associated with the Metro project while supporting Nagpur’s wider infrastructure and urban-development plans.With Metro infrastructure expanding and redevelopment plans moving forward, the latest NMC decisions could give further momentum to Nagpur’s urban transformation, commercial redevelopment and integrated public-transport infrastructure.
