Good Morning Nagpur
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has proposed a 30–40% increase in billboard and outdoor advertising license charges, a move aimed at strengthening civic revenue and improving the regulation of outdoor advertisements across the city. The proposal has been submitted to the Municipal Commissioner for approval and, if cleared, will revise the existing fee structure applicable to licensed billboards and sky signs in Nagpur.
According to the proposal, the revision has been recommended in response to rising maintenance costs, administrative expenses, and the growing need for a more organized outdoor advertising framework. Officials believe that updating the licensing structure will help the civic body generate additional revenue while ensuring better monitoring and compliance with advertising regulations.
The proposed fee hike is expected to impact billboard owners, advertising agencies, commercial property owners, outdoor media companies, and businesses that rely on hoardings for marketing and brand promotion. Industry stakeholders may face higher operational costs, which could influence advertising budgets and campaign planning.
NMC officials have stated that the additional revenue generated through the revised license fees could support infrastructure maintenance, improve civic services, and enhance the management of outdoor advertising spaces throughout the city. The revised policy also aims to establish a more transparent licensing system and encourage greater compliance among advertisers.
If approved, the new rates will come into effect after the necessary administrative procedures are completed. The proposal reflects NMC's broader objective of creating a sustainable, well-regulated outdoor advertising ecosystem while strengthening municipal finances to support future urban development projects
