The audit of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has raised concerns over outstanding advances amounting to ₹10.39 crore under the advances account for the financial year 2025–26.

According to the audit findings highlighted in the report, gaps were observed in the maintenance of party-wise details and ageing analysis of the outstanding advances. The absence of adequate records has raised questions about the monitoring and recovery of amounts pending under the university’s advances account.

The audit has prompted the university to strengthen its financial monitoring, documentation and recovery mechanisms. Greater focus is expected on maintaining detailed records, tracking pending advances and ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding amounts.

The 2025–26 audit report was cleared by the university’s Senate, while the observations regarding financial records and outstanding advances are likely to encourage tighter internal controls and greater accountability in the university’s financial administration.

The ₹10.39 crore outstanding advances have now come under the auditor’s lens, putting financial transparency and accountability at RTMNU in focus.
