Supreme Court Seeks Action On Disability Rights

The Supreme Court has sought the Centre’s response on a plea alleging that recommendations made by disability rights panels are not being properly implemented. The petition claims that delays and non-compliance are preventing many persons with disabilities from receiving the benefits, services, and support they are entitled to under the law.
Taking note of the concerns raised, the court has directed the government to place its response and relevant facts on record. The case highlights the importance of ensuring that disability rights protections are effectively enforced and that eligible beneficiaries receive timely assistance.
The matter will be taken up further after the Centre submits its reply.
