Mahindra Group is set to give a major boost to Nagpur’s industrial growth with its upcoming integrated automobile and tractor manufacturing facility in the Vidarbha region. The company has committed an investment of ₹15,000 crore over 10 years for its manufacturing expansion in Maharashtra, with the flagship Nagpur facility planned across approximately 1,500 acres.

Once fully operational, the new facility is expected to have an annual production capacity of more than 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors, making it Mahindra’s largest integrated manufacturing footprint in India. Production at the Nagpur facility is targeted to begin in 2028.The upcoming plant will support Mahindra’s next-generation vehicle platforms and is designed to manufacture vehicles using multiple powertrain technologies, including internal combustion engines (ICE), electric vehicles (EVs) and future technologies. The facility will cater to both domestic and international markets and will feature advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems.The project is also expected to strengthen Nagpur and Vidarbha’s wider manufacturing ecosystem by creating opportunities for supporting industries, suppliers and local businesses. Mahindra’s plans include a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar, while the company is also expanding its manufacturing footprint at other locations in Maharashtra.The development comes as Mahindra moves forward with the project, with the company recently indicating that it is progressing towards taking possession of the first 800 acres for the proposed facility at Additional Butibori in Nagpur. The large-scale investment could further strengthen Nagpur’s position as an emerging automotive and manufacturing hub in central India
