Good Morning Nagpur
Residents of Shyam Nagar are raising serious concerns over the condition of a key road that has been covered with loose gravel as part of an ongoing repair effort. While authorities maintain that the road reconstruction project is underway, many commuters argue that the current work has made travel more difficult and dangerous rather than improving the situation.
Citizens point out that loose gravel creates a slippery surface, increasing the risk of accidents, especially for two-wheeler riders. Hidden potholes, uneven patches, and concerns about worsening conditions during the monsoon season have further intensified public frustration. Questions are also being raised about accountability, as confusion continues over whether the project falls under the jurisdiction of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) or the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT).
Officials have stated that the road reconstruction is expected to be completed by December 2026 and that permanent work will begin once the required administrative processes are cleared. However, residents are demanding transparency, timely action, and a durable solution rather than temporary fixes.
The issue has sparked a broader debate about infrastructure planning, public spending, and the need for quality road construction that ensures safety and convenience for daily commuters.
